Traditional costumes of the Vietnamese people tend to be very simple
and modest. Men wear brown shirts and white trousers. Their headgear is
simply a piece of cloth wrapped around the head and their footwear
consists of a pair of plain sandals.
In
Vietnam, com is eaten at the main meals of the day (lunch and dinner).
Rice is eaten together with a variety of different dishes and is made
from different kinds of rice. Typically fragrant rice is used, such as
Tam Thom and Nang Huong. An ordinary meal may consist of boiled rice and

Superstition, sometimes, plays more
than a passing role in Vietnamese society. By the time a boy is old
enough to
marry, for example, he may not be able to wed the girl he loves because
she was
born in the wrong year. On the 12-year lunar calendar commonly used
throughout Asia, many of the years are considered incompatible.
Vietnamese literature is literature,
both oral and written, created largely by Vietnamese-speaking people, although
Francophone Vietnamese and English-speaking Vietnamese authors in Australia and
the United States are counted by many critics as part of the national tradition.
