VIETNAM TOURISM
Despite Vietnam's ongoing economic liberalisation and
the pressures of rapid development, this dignified
country has managed to preserve its rich civilisation
and highly cultured society. Most visitors to Vietnam
are overwhelmed by the sublime beauty of the country's
natural setting: the Red River Delta in the north, the
Mekong Delta in the south and almost the entire coastal
strip are a patchwork of brilliant green rice paddies
tended by women in conical hats. There are some divine
beaches along the coast too, while inland there are
soaring mountains, some of which are cloaked by dense,
misty forests. » more about Vietnam

MYANMAR TOURISM
Myanmar or Burma as it was known until 1988, has been
one of the least accessible countries in the world up
until very recently. The fact that the country has been
inaccessible for so long has meant that Myanmar has been
relatively untainted by the excesses of modern life and
retains an aura of a bygone age. As a destination
Myanmar offers great natural beauty, magnificent
archaeological sites, stunning pagoda and temple
architecture and warm, hospitable people.
Myanmar is the largest country in the South East Asian
peninsula stretching 2000km from north to south and over
900km from east to west... » more about Myanmar

THAILAND TOURISM
Originally called Siam, Thailand is a country rich in
culture and natural beauty. It has been blessed with
expansive natural parks, fertile plains, remote jungles,
beaches washed by turquoise waters and tropical islands
bathed in endless sunshine. The country has more visible
historical evidence of its past cultures than any other
country in Southeast Asian. Its history is very complex,
involving the invasion of many different peoples, the
rule of different kings, the establishment of various
kingdoms and the interaction of diverse cultures.
The period of time from the mid 1800's until now is
probably the most important in terms of the formation of
modern day Thailand. King Mongkut, who ruled the country
from 1851 to 1868, was a well educated, ex-monk who kept
Thailand safe from European expansion. His son,
Chulalongkorn, took over in 1868 and continued the
enlightenment and modernization of Thailand. » more about Thailand

CHINA TOURISM
China isn't a country - it's a different world. From
shop-till-you-drop metropolises to the epic grasslands
of Inner Mongolia - with deserts, sacred peaks,
astounding caves, and imperial ruins - it's a land of
cultural and geographic schisms. It's not that China has
completely done away with its Maoist past - it's more
that the yin of revolutionary zeal is being balanced by
the yang of economic pragmatism, and the oldguard
communists are giving way to the new wave dot-commers.
It's a land of towering mountains and epic landscapes -
background scenery to the fall of dynasties, the rise of
emperors and the turning of the revolutionary wheel.
Unless you have a couple of years and unlimited
patience, it's best to follow a loose itinerary here,
such as Beijing to Tibet via Xi'an's terracotta
warriors, following the Silk Road route, sailing down
the Yangzi River, or exploring the Dr Seuss landscape of
Guangxi Province. » more about China
